Elle & Ryan are one of our most memorable couples from 2017. Elle (pronounced Ell-y) and Ryan are both from Chicago, a city Sue and myself still have to cross off our list soon, and as you’ll see from the wedding video they both have incredibly strong family roots and a huge affection for Ireland. Having such strong roots in Ireland, the pair decided that getting married in Ireland, with their nearest and dearest, would be the ultimate way to celebrate their vows. We arrive at Blackwater Castle, a private, exclusive but obscure castle as far as most Irish people are concerned, located 5 mins walk from the heritage village of Castletownroche, set on a 50 acre wooded estate with private river and 10,000 years of history. The Castle has been a retreat for many famous and infamous people over the years (some of whom have their portrait hung in one of the sitting rooms). As an all-exclusive private venue, we loved it’s rough edges and character. Elle and Ryan met on a random night out on the city in Chicago, with Elle first spotting Ryan dancing atop a stage in a bar! Ryan ever the gentleman, helped Elle onto the stage, and well, the rest is history! The guys booked us to film their rehearsal dinner coverage the evening before their wedding, and we were so glad they did. Ryan’s Dad gave a powerful and emotional toast to the couple about the reasons they came to hold their wedding in Ireland. The next day and further toasts (and one awesome slideshow!) from Elle’s Dad, sisters and others rounded out a perfect dream wedding. We loved Elle’s fiery red hair coupled with her elegant white dress and heirloom necklace, the baseball in the morning with the lads, and the whole casual nature of the event. This wedding was about bringing the most important people in Elle and Ryan’s life together for a seriously good time in a country they clearly love a lot. And when we say seriously good time, we mean it. These guys knew how to party… and dance (Ryans sisters all well regarded Irish dancers gave us a gig or two!). To Elle and Ryan, thank you so much for having myself and Sue there to film and capture a brilliant few days. We wish you lots of love and happiness in your years ahead together! And when we finally get to visit Chi-Town, hopefully we can catch up for a liquid beverage or two! :)
