As we prepare to say to goodbye to 2016 and hello to 2017, we’ve taken a bit of time to stand back and reflect on Hitched Films and our branding. Imagery is important to us, not just because our job as wedding videographers is to create stunning visual films, but also because images create certain types of feelings in the people that view them. To start, we decided to take a look at our own Hitched Films logo.
We designed our logo in-house back at the start of 2015, when Hitched Films was just an idea. We wanted something that was fun, open and friendly. So we created the Hitched Films icon and used a font called Amatic SC as the Hitched Films logo typeface. It’s a simple but effective hand drawn type that has a fun, almost child like feeling to it. We liked it a lot.
But it was that child like quality on the Hitched Films type that also meant it was time for a change. Since we started Hitched Films we’ve come a long way. Our equipment has gotten better, our filming and editing has improved and our pricing has increased in line with demand. Also Sue and myself now work on Hitched Films full time. So Hitched Films is growing up, and we figured our logo needed to as well.
First things first, we are keeping the two ring, one camera icon. The main change is that our new (sort of) logo uses a new typeface called Josefin Sans, which is a more geometric, elegant and kind of vintage font when compared with the previous. We think this font with its sharper edges and elegant lines, better reflects where Hitched Films is at currently and where we’re going to bring the studio in 2017.
We’re also adding background imagery wherever possible with the logo stencilled in on top. We think this brings some character and life to our logo. The background imagery we’re using will all be stills from our own work. In this regard, the logo will become an active image of our work.
So what do you think of our new logo? Like it, don’t like it? Tell us in the comment section below.
