In terms of a wedding videographers season, we’re pretty much at the tail end of 2016 now filming wise. Summer was a pretty crazy period for us at Hitched Films, with lots of travelling and now quite the queue of wedding video’s waiting to be edited. But Sue is killing it in terms of schedule. We have delivered 100% of our wedding videos when we said we would, or in some cases before we said we would! Right now our time to delivery is about 17 weeks, but as the peak of the wedding season is over and the weddings start to thin out a bit more, I expect this number to reduce over the coming months.
Which leads me onto the main topic of this article: looking at where is left for us to shoot in 2016. When I started pulling this list together I got pretty excited. Lots of our weddings left for 2016 are in great ,well-known venues. It will also be our first time shooting in many of them, which always has us curious as to what the venue holds and what we might find to film.
Just a caveat, one or two of these weddings the bride & groom have requested to remain private, so don’t be holding you’re breathe for any one in particular, but most will be available to watch at some point on the website!
Ballymaloe House, Midleton, Ireland
Famous for it’s food and the Allen family, this will be our first time to Ballymaloe and we’re looking forward to it. Our couple getting married here are big foodies so it’s a perfect fit. The main reception room at Ballymaloe also has a balcony/mezzanine area over the dinner tables, so hopefully we can take advantage of that and get some really spectacular shots.
Castlemartyr Resort, Castlemartyr, Co. Cork
While this will Hitched Films first time filming at Castlemartyr, I’ve been fortunate to have stayed here a couple of times in the past few years. Actually myself and Sue love the bedrooms here. They are easily one of the highest spec’d rooms in the country. But that aside, Castlemartyr is picture perfect, with amazing gardens and landscaping.
Dromoland Castle, Dromoland, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Co. Clare
One of Irelands top rated hotel’s, Dromoland Castle is a venue we were delighted to secure when the booking came in. Not only that but the couple we have for this wedding are super nice. I’m really hoping for some decent weather so we can explore the grounds and lake on the day.
Parknasilla Hotel, Sneem, Co. Kerry
We love shooting Kerry. We’ve previously shot Killarney, Tralee and Dingle, and now we’re heading to Sneem! (well just outside Sneem). It’s a bit of a drive, but for the scenery, it’s always worth it to us. With great views of Kenmare Bay and the Kerry Mountains, we’re expecting good things from the visit to Parknasilla.
Killashee Hotel, Killashee, Naas, Co. Kildare
Back a little closer to home, we’re also shooting Killashee for the first time and looking forward to it. As you can see from the image above, Killashee is grand 1861 country house and it sit on 280 of ‘lush’ acres. From its description the grounds offer ‘…trails, fountains and a butterfly garden’. A butterfly garden! Sounds interesting…!
Glasson Country House Hotel, Athlone, Co. Westmeath
We have shot at Glasson twice so far, and it really is a beautiful venue, combining old with new throughout the hotel. Situated on the shores of Lough Ree, Glasson’s main reception room provides for some stunning panoramic views of the lake. Also just up the road is the quaint Glasson Village, great for a stop off before heading to the ceremony/reception.
Malton Hotel, Killarney, Co. Kerry
The Malton is a genuinely well-run establishment. We first shot in the Malton last New Years Eve for Mary & Sean’s wedding, and we couldn’t get over the level of service and quality of the food they managed to deliver with probably one the largest weddings we’ve shot (300+ people). This is a Killarney city hotel, but luckily the hotel is just down the road from one of the most beautiful national parks in the country. Looking forward to returning to the Malton this year, particularly around Christmas. Seriously cosy atmosphere at the Malton.
Villa Rose Hotel, Ballybofey, County Donegal
And finally, for probably our last wedding of 2016 (NYE is still available!), we will be heading North to not just our first time at the Villa Rose, but also our first time shooting in Donegal. I’m praying for good weather, because I love Donegal and it’s landscape. The bride will be getting ready further north than Letterkenny, so we’re in for some driving this day, but as long as I can grab some sneaky b-roll around the cliffs and coastline, I don’t mind one bit.
